Are You Being Served?

As you will gather, laughter and humour are essential elements of our work at Garden King Garden Centre; qualities enjoyed by customers and staff alike. Here then is our 'Rogues' Gallery' of inmates with a brief description of their work – so you know who to blame...and who to avoid:-

Me, Darren - Aka Garden Centre Manager:

I'm not always dressed as Superman as my picture may suggest, only when this rabble I have working for me steps out of line and I need a little extra power to sort them out. When not in my outfit I'm normally in the office, snoozing... I mean 'doing some paperwork' or if the sun's shining, I'll probably be outside trying to top my tan up. For a man who can fly up in the Stratosphere I never seem to go brown.

I love American Chocolate and I'm after a mini Hershey store here at Garden King.

(If there is any chocolate you want but cannot find, let me know and I will try to get it imported for you).
I also love my Penguins so if you come in around Christmas time, you will think you have stumbled across Happy Feet Studios.

Sadie:

You will most likely find Sadie on the till when you come in, ready to greet you with a smiley face. With a love of Westlife, Boyzone, Take That ... well any men really; she will pass on her smile to you.

Sadie has just made her first ever TV appearance appearing on BBC's Bargain Hunt! All of her bargain spotting at Garden King must have paid off because she won on the show too!

Craig:

Craig came to us from the local school on day release and we haven't been able to send him back- he's been in permanent detention here! Now,though, he is always on 'top form' at Garden King and is constantly on hand to give valuable lessons in all gardening and garden related topics. He thinks of himself as a ladies' man, so all you girls had better beware! He is often found out on delivery - so we can get a bit of peace! - or down by the skip. Also he is a bit of a 'chav', which we are slowly trying to beat out of him - init!

Sarah:

When Sarah isn't lazing about on a hammock in the plant area, you will probably find her on the till or titivating in the gift shop. It's always a busy day for Sarah, buzzing round the various departments. All these benefit as the result of her great personality and - let's be honest - film star good looks....and I don't mean 'Lassie' or 'ET'! This life of ours can be one of opportunities that are missed for all time.So, sorry boys -but Sarah is recently married and off the market for good. One consolation is that she is always around here somewhere at Garden King - so you can still pop in and hope for a quick sighting!

Mandy:

Mandy is my number two. If I'm busy sunning myself when you come in, Mandy will always be there to help you out. She is often found in the Potting Shed along with her life size cardboard cut-out - which you will probably get more sense from! She is also a big fan of My Chemical Romance ('who'? I hear you say). Well, I don't know either, just nod along when she starts rambling on about them. So, that's all the bad points over with Mandy; she does have a great knowledge of plants and has her own allotment... so, if you want to know anything about growing something, just ask her.
